Italy, 2019, 80 min
In the high-security women’s ward of a prison in Northern Italy, a group of high-ranking mafia women (Camorra, ‘Ndrangheta, Cosa Nostra) are about to stage a show based on stories from their childhood. The path to the origins of what brought them to prison, of what made them what they are, moves their bowels and changes the balance of their being. The inevitable crisis comes together with the success of their show, which is represented at the State University and in the theaters of Milan, Turin and Rome. It is the first time in Italy that mafia women are allowed to go out under escort for reasons other than trials. The meeting with spectators, students and scholars of the Mafia phenomenon puts them in front of their responsibilities.
